5/2014 Liberation Moment at the Megaliths cliff Schunemunk Mountain Hike with Discover Outdoors

Following the precise steps of the hiker in front of me, I chanted mantras (in this case out loud to keep focus), “One with the rock, one with rock, one with the tree,” until I safely made it through the bouldering cliff climb upward and onward. I carefully fangled my way around each enormous rock and reached for the tree trunk to my right, realizing I was on a ledge of an undetermined height (I told myself not to look over my right shoulder, because it didn’t matter, I had to keep going.) This was just one of the many moments along the edge of Schunemunk Mountain, an 8-mile hike with Discover Outdoors, taking us through changing terrains of trails and stones that we had to navigate through.

Sometimes breaking free requires us to set new and clear boundaries with ourselves and others. By accepting certain behavior that doesn’t feel right, you allow yourself to receive less in return.

Instead stand up for yourself and recognize your self-worth. Speak your truth and that will set you free!

Sometimes we intentionally block abundance and flow of desires being realized, because we’re waiting for a certain time or someone else to be the answer to our prayers, so we choose to hide rather than show up completely as ourselves.

Instead choose ways you can show up completely every day. Expand on this practice so that your authentic self and passion for life begin to conquer your fears and excuses. Take responsibility for what you want!

Laos - GAdventures SE Asia Tour - 2/2012

Sacrificing anything and everything to get my book proposal done, that’s how passionate I was about it. Though, I never realized how this promise, the stress and major sleep deprivation (consistently getting less than 5/6 hours) would impact my health. Sure, my daily dose of green juice and eating more of an alkaline diet kept the flu and even strep throat away when my sister, Amanda, came down with it. But my body couldn’t recover and it absolutely needed to.

Never mind, the warning signs to change something or to take a sick day: the irritability, not being able to think straight, and my heart racing on exhaustion overdrive that it had difficulty shifting down a few gears!

Amanda would say, “You’re just like, Bethenny!” when we’d watch the Real Housewives of NY and the spin off shows, Bethenny’s Getting Married? and Bethenny Ever After. She was referring to my ambitious, neurotic, bossy older sister ways. I love Bethenny Frankel and felt I could most relate to her being single in my 30s. “Well, I hope, I’m not walking down the aisle pregnant getting married at 40,” I told her. Not that there’s anything terrible about that, rather I didn’t want my fate of everything coming together for me all at the same time to be so late when that was 7 years away.

Sarina as a Class Speaker for High School Seniors at Half Hollow Hills West, Dix Hills, NY 4/2014

Impressive and so very fortunate! Those were my thoughts on learning how world traveled the High School Students are from Half Hollow Hills West when I spoke with them last week! I went in assuming I may need to convince them to get a plane to see another country. Well, I so underestimated the response I would get from asking the question, how many of you have traveled out of the country?

Nearly half the class of 40 students! And the places they’ve already visited: France, England, Germany, Canada, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Israel, Germany, Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Aruba. One student has even decided to postpone college and enrolled into a year-long travel program!

Simply A-MAZING and such a courageous decision!
