Late summer before my hiking trip, I met up with a former coworker at Belmont Lake State Park for a nature walk over one Saturday morning. It was a meet-and-greet between his adorable doodle puppy, Sandie, and my 3-year-old doodle, Preston. We forgot to take a photo of the pups together, and here’s why.

After we finished the walk, I couldn’t find my car key and was concerned that maybe I didn’t put it in my crossover bag. Maybe I got distracted when I went to pet Sandie and dropped it in the parking lot? Maybe I dropped it somewhere along the path? Oh goodness.

My coworker drove me home to get my spare key and we went back to the park.

Thankfully I didn’t lock my car because my house key was in the glove compartment. That was a good miss of not locking it. Thankfully I checked my bag before my coworker left the park. Otherwise, I would’ve been stranded there. He definitely came to my rescue that day! (And I let him know this as well.) We laughed about it while it was happening.

Determined to uncover it, I kept at the search. The thought of ordering a replacement from the dealer kind of annoyed me. The unexpected expense and the hassle. I felt irresponsible.

I ended up walking the loop around the lake again and nothing. Throughout the search, I asked the Universe for support and the ArchAngel for Missing Items to help me find it. I checked three times with the park entrance staff if anyone turned in a car key. Nope! I gave my contact info to them in case anyone, later on, handed it in.

I looked in my car all around again and under the seats. By this time, I’d done everything possible to retrace my steps, and still, the key remained missing. I kept saying how bizarre it was that it just disappeared.

After my search mission was complete, back home, I emptied my purse and felt something else still inside. No way, could it be? The missing car key? It slipped through the lining of the bag and was never lost, simply hidden all along. At that moment, I was immediately reminded by my inner knowing.

Isn’t that the story of life? What we believe is missing is never really gone, but rather hidden from sight or waiting to emerge at the right divine time. When we keep the faith, take aligned actions, stay on the course of what we seek, it finally reveals itself to us.

May this inspire you to show up in your life today, tomorrow, and always.
