What if I shared a secret with you about getting the most out of life right now …Would you believe it’s possible? Would you seize this opportunity rather than dismiss it?
And by simply doing this very single thing on a daily basis…
- Your life will become more Abundant.
- Your life will become more Intentional.
- Your life will feel more Empowering.
- You will create more Awareness in your life.
- You would feel more Inner Peace and Happiness.
So here’s the secret that I’ve been practicing the last two months that’s allowed me to feel this way and to create another shift in my life towards what I desire: my gratitude journal.
Since Thanksgiving, I’ve been keeping a daily gratitude journal, which I learned about after reading and watching Christine Hassler’s vblog speak about this practice. I even find myself setting more intentions because of this practice.
I’m all about keeping things simple and practical, so I can stay committed. I recommend starting with the statement, I’m grateful for… Then keep going with this same statement until you can’t think of anything more at that moment, whether it’s one or five for that day.
List any things, friendships, relationships, experiences, opportunities, challenges, thoughts, feelings, mindset, fears, doubts, and awareness that you are grateful for from that day or that’s in your life right now. Also, consider why you’re grateful for these and write that down as well. After creating my gratitude statements, I then make a promise to myself to continue with my commitment and to overcome the challenges that came up. There is great value to addressing these challenges.
For me, lately I keep affirming that I’m grateful for my health, for having the financial resources, and for the commitment I’ve been dedicating to cooking and learning about food substitutions. All so I can heal myself from all my food intolerations. So grateful for all the joy I’m finding in my weekly menu planning, in the art of cooking, and my dance liberation moments in my kitchen while I listen to my Pandora music (One Republic, Maroon5, LifeHouse, The Script, The Fray, Cold Play). Everything about cooking has become a new fun ritual!
Another reoccurring theme has been my gratitude for my continued dedication and focus on my book proposal, as I made sacrifices and had many late nights. Acknowledging this gratitude kept me focused and moving along! I’m grateful for my awareness of my fear self trying to sabotage me by bringing doubts up (Is this really good enough?), as I was getting closer to finishing my book proposal. I’m also grateful for my ability to acknowledge these fears/doubts, and choose to come from a loving reassuring place instead.
Certainly, I’m hugely grateful for my editors, for their honest editorial feedback and expertise, for creating the space for me to step into and believing in me, as it has made all the difference in taking my book proposal to the next level!! Truly so grateful that I listened to my intuition months ago, to find an editor/writing coach, when I knew I needed support, focus, and accountability of a partner in this writing journey.
So as you can see, you can really keep this gratitude journal practice very simple and just see what comes up for you that day. You can even be repetitive, if that’s what you continue to feel grateful for. That’s totally fine! Just get your journal and pen out and flow with it.
Really only 5-10 min of your day is all it takes to notice your grateful moments, your life and to positively shift yourself. As Christine recommends, I do this gratitude journal writing practice at night, so I can go to bed with my subconscious thinking of all the abundance in my life. As a result, I wake up feeling more inner peace.
For me this practice has been life-changing. It was exactly what I needed to shift myself and to stay focused on all the abundance in my life right now! We want to on a moment to moment basis, focus on the abundance mentality. Especially, when our mind (fears and doubts) wants to get the best of us and stay stuck on what we’re missing or what’s could be better. Because when we get out of our own heads and out of our own way, of course things will shift for us. We will feel different and take the right action holding the right expectations.
At this time, I would like to invite you to join me in this daily Gratitude Journal practice. Promise me, you’ll be kind though honest with yourself, especially if you happen to miss a day or two of this practice. Simply acknowledge it, then get right back into for that day. Would love to hear what comes up for you and what positive changes come as a result!
May love, inner peace, gratitude, and abundance continue to flow into your life! Namaste!
