Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) creates anxiety. This anxiety then creates inaction and lack of decisions. Allowing the anxiety about missing out or not being able to really participate in something will hold you back from living a full life, as ironic as this may seem. It will also compromise your true self.
Instead shift your focus on making decisions that really resonate with your True Self and what you need to do that’s in alignment of this. Sometimes it’s about saying “no” now, so you could potentially say “yes” to later on when the timing is right for you. Think of it as postponing rather than abandoning some true wants and desires. Think of it as shifting yourself forward with the right intentions while taking the right actions to change your life!
It’s about sacrifices and difficult decisions and not everyone will understand. But that’s okay. Are you living your life for everyone else or for yourself? Really think about this for a moment or few moments.
What I know for sure is… any time I neglect to follow my intuition or my truth and life purpose, I then start to feel like I’m suffocating from the internal conflict and guilt that is getting the best of me. It’s an awful, awful feeling! Have you ever felt like this? All you want to do is return to your true authentic self where you’re living from a place of purpose and meaningfulness and harmony.
This is where I come back to, knowing and honoring of my intuition, when I feel there are so many decisions or social events or activities I could be involved in at this moment. Then I ask myself this question.
Will this move me towards or away from what I’m ultimately trying to accomplish?
Already this year, I’ve had to postpone three times signing up for NYRR Running class (10 week class). Why? Well, because I had already committed to other programs and workshops happening at the same time that would overlap and not allow much flexibility in my schedule. I needed some flexibility. We all need some flexibility. I had already committed to the NYS Park Summer Run series on Monday nights, so the thought of locking myself into another commitment on Thursday, made me feel stressed rather than excited.
So for right now, I’m saying no to the NYRR Running class (10 week class on Thursday nights), and yes to it next year! NYS Park Summer Series just may not make it onto my schedule next summer and I’m okay with that.
Ahh, now I can breathe and refocus on what most relevant right now. Focusing my energy and time on writing my book proposal. Then traveling on my next extended international adventure afterwards in between writing and finishing the actual book.
It’s just about shifting the time on commitments and reprioritizing. So before taking on any new commitments or attending another social function or networking event ask yourself, will this move me closer to what I desire, a goal, or a dream? If not, is it worth the sacrifice of your time and effort?
Stop mindlessly accepting all invites and commitments thinking that’s what you need to do.
Start flowing with what feels right to you.
Start saying yes and following through with commitments to yourself, your dreams, your goals, and your desires.
It’s your choice. It’s always your choice. What will you decide today and every day thereafter?
Manifest what you truly want in your life. Say “yes” to living from this place. Recommitting to this everyday. That’s what it’s about. Choosing to step into your greatness, your Courageous & Remarkable Self! Namaste!
