Know that the Past is Your Teacher + Mantra for you!

Past is Your Teacher KD Mantra

“Past is your teacher, Present is your creation, Future is your inspiration,” Kacy Duke on Inventing Anna, Netflix limited Series, said to her training/coaching clients as a motivational mantra. If you’re not familiar, Kacy Duke is a real Celebrity Fitness Expert/Life Coach (portrayed by the actress, Laverne Cox), and she’s also an author and the founding Group Fitness Director of Equinox Fitness Clubs.

I virtually watched this series twice as my sister, Manda, saw it for the first time. And let me tell you, the second time is just as brilliant and fascinating. There’s a reason why it stayed on the Netflix Top 10 for over two months. Nonetheless, I’m not here to give a review of this Shondaland series or speak of Anna.

What I want to focus on is the [Continue Reading...]

Why I’m Letting Go of Long-Term Goals…

When it comes to trying something new or embracing change or facing our fears, I’ve come to realize that sometimes it’s best and most successful to only commit to right now and short term. As in this day, this week, the next 2 weeks, the next month, or the next 3 months.

My Missing Car Key Story, And the More Significant Message I Received

Late summer before my hiking trip, I met up with a former coworker at Belmont Lake State Park for a nature walk over one Saturday morning. It was a meet-and-greet between his adorable doodle puppy, Sandie, and my 3-year-old doodle, Preston. We forgot to take a photo of the pups together, and here’s why.

My coworker drove me home to get my spare key and we went back to the park.

I arrived in Jackson, WY, on the only direct flight in from NY. It was the only way I was boarding a flight, at least for the start of my trip, especially for these times. My first flight and real vacation in two years.

I intuitively knew that I was standing still and needed to get myself on the flight to this hiking tour, so I can expand into the next phase in my life. I’m a fearless world traveler and badass warrior who has anxiety and who finds a way to travel anyhow.

A great deal of consideration went into deciding whether or not to travel. And then it was settling on the planning logistics to feel comfortable or reassured. Fears, anxiety, procrastination on making decisions and taking action, all came [Continue Reading...]
