Jamie Isaacs – NYS Senator Klein speak about Cyber-Bullyism

Actually last month on Fri, December 2nd, 2011, I had the privilege and honor as a volunteer of the 11th Annual Our Kids in Action (OKIA) Youth Conference to meet the keynote speaker, Jamie Isaacs. Jamie is a 15 year old, 10th grade student, who shared her story about being personally tormented with bullyism since 8 years old through middle school. Le Chateau in Nice, France – Europe Trip 7/2011

Where we left off … I recognize it’s been quite some time since my last blog post. I’ve traveled to Europe and back during this past summer, and I’ve trained and completed my first Half Marathon in East Hampton NY despite some setbacks. I’m [Continue Reading...]

Looking back, I don’t know why I didn’t study abroad for a semester. And I’m not quite [Continue Reading...]

How being Resilient can make all the Difference with Peer Pressure, Stress, School, Family, and Relationships.

Let’s start with the definition of resilience before we speak about it further. Wikipedia defines resilience as the ability to positively cope with stress and adversity or challenging negative situations. It’s seen as a process more so than a personality trait. So that means it can be developed by anyone at any time, and it doesn’t happen overnight. This is important to know. Starting with today you can develop resilience and build on the resilience you have created so far.

This is how thinking ahead to a certain degree and knowing how you will deal with negative situations (peer pressure, family conflict, difficulties in school, stress) becomes very beneficial. It’s about staying true to yourself and not allowing yourself to become vulnerable to the extent that you compromise your own values [Continue Reading...]
