Once we master the lesson of Learning from Failure, we can persevere and come back stronger, more tolerant and disciplined, more successful, more flexible, more willing to take risks and be open-minded, and happier as a result of these experiences!! So how exactly do we get to this place?? First, it’s important to understand the difference between a Perfectionist and an Optimalist, so you can adjust your strategy in life to get more out of it and embrace life’s lessons.

As described by Tal Ben-Shahar PhD, author of The Pursuit of Perfect, How to Stop Chasing Perfection and Start Living a Richer, Happier Life, a Perfectionist is one who tends to focus on the outcome with goals that may be overly ambitious and unobtainable, is afraid of failure, less of a [Continue Reading...]

I’ve Got Perspective & Perspective is Everything!

feature-ive-got-perspective-perspective-is-everything

Ever have one of those days when everything seems to be going wrong? What about when you’ve thought your worst nightmare came true? You are so lying to me if you tell me you’ve never had one of those days or thought possibly one of your biggest fears may have become a reality. How did you react and deal with all of this?

Well, allow me to share how I’ve reacted and have coped with these situations. First, I may initially panic over the thoughts running a million miles a minute in my mind of everything negative that could possibly happen based on news I received -focusing on how my world is about to fall apart.

Then I may even (quite often) break down crying or get angry or laugh out of nervousness, [Continue Reading...]

Rainbow at Machu Picchu, Peru One of my next Travel Adventures - Climbing Machu Picchu!

As much as I’m a very honest straight forward tell-it-like-it-is type of person, truth be told, I sometimes struggle with having those difficult confrontational conversations. Having to tell others “no” or how you will not spend time with them because you don’t agree with the decisions they make or their lifestyle or how they complain about everything but do nothing to change the situation, can be stressful and apprehensive.

It could very well be nothing that you have done wrong at all, and this person may be angry or jealous of you for some reason that you [Continue Reading...]

With a Leap of Faith, Taking Action, Being Persistent and Patient, Everything Falls into Place!

Blog - With a Leap of Faith ..

As I had previously shared as a Tweet/Facebook update and blog post, I’m making this year, the year that I take more risks and work more on releasing my fears, doubts, self-limiting beliefs, and blocks to true happiness. No more holding back!

Facing my fears and committing to a goal I never thought I could accomplish, and actually crossing that finish line in the Hamptons Half Marathon last September 2011, has empowered me to keep facing my fears in life. So where does this lead me? Well, I’m on my way training for my second Half Marathon with the Allstate Life InsuranceSM 13.1 Marathon® Series in Chicago! Because it’s the journey of training and the race itself that takes me further in life. Spring training started when I returned from my SE Asia [Continue Reading...]
