Making Too Many or Not Enough Sacrifices?

When I was working in corporate, I once had a boss tell me that all the HRBPs from another site, slept with the work phone right next to their pillow to respond immediately (emails/texts/calls) to the VP, HR, or some other perceived urgent matter from their client groups.

“I won’t be doing that.” I boldly said, with my stomach clenched in knots.

As a recovering workaholic, boundaries with myself, and boundaries with my boss, needed to be maintained. I promised myself.

Pretty sure, my response pissed off my boss. Not because I wouldn’t budge and do the same. What a ridiculous suggestion or hint as an expectation!

More so, what I sensed annoyed my boss, my defiance to not let my job take over my life. No longer would I sacrifice my well-being and [Continue Reading...]

For me, lately, my sleep schedule has been all over the place. I find it hard to motivate myself to go to bed, because I tell myself, I haven’t accomplished enough for that day.

At the same time, I tell myself, I deserve to relax and not work so hard or extended hours into the evening.

Then starts the next day cycle, my overly ambitious thinking I can accomplish 10 high-priority things in one day. But first…snoozing for 30 min to 1 hour after my alarm! What a sleep pattern cycle, I’ve created for myself. (Btw, I know anything more than 3-5 priorities in a day is too many.)

Wait, I just checked; there are 12 different tasks on my schedule today. All must get done. Are you with me here?

No wonder, I’m [Continue Reading...]

Forgiving Myself…(Can you relate?)

As I walked out of my condo for my morning run, an immediate realization hit me that I couldn’t ignore, “You need to forgive yourself. Forgive yourself.” These words echoed in my mind, followed by a sigh of relief for this awareness. And I knew that this was an absolute truth and a huge block for making some of my dreams a reality.

For several days prior, I went to bed, saying a short though powerful prayer that comes from one of my mentor’s books, “I surrender it all. Inner guide, please help me surrender it all.” I know that this awakened this truth of forgiveness being an answer to that prayer. Clearly, I need to amp up my forgiveness practice, so I can claim back my energy lingering behind this [Continue Reading...]

Let’s talk about comebacks…(Story + Mantra for You!)

Last Monday was a perfect day. My day to make a comeback. I stayed focused on that intention. Let go of any doubts and worries if I was ready. I trusted myself. I stopped myself from going into all the what-ifs.

I ran my first 3 miles this year at 28:11min, 9:24 pace. All the way straight through, without stopping. I remembered, my strong legs could carry me for miles. I told myself, “Let it be easy, breezy.” There was no pushing myself for a certain time. It was just about completing it. Being in the flow.

Typically after taking a long break from running in the winter months, my quads feel-on-fire-in-a-painful-kind-of-way in my first 3-mile run. This time felt different. It felt good, light, easy.

While running, one of my trusty mantras [Continue Reading...]

Sarina’s intelligent, tactful, yet straight forward demeanor blends well with multiple personalities. As an HR Manager and Life Coach, she has incredible insight as well as great presentation skills. Having had the opportunity to attend a seminar she gave on How to Win Over the Hiring Manager, it was impressive to see how engaged the audience was, and the take away of helpful hints was over the top. Having attended seminars with many of the top ‘name brand’ training companies, I can say that the training received from Sarina was outstanding in its practical, no-nonsense and immediately applicable approach. Sarina was excellent at keeping the whole group involved. The experience was a great investment for all who participated.

I just wanted to say I never told you what an amazing woman I thought you were and such a great role model. I know I’m older, but I definitely learned a thing or two from you. It took me some time, but I’m finding my way.

I loved reading this! I read it twice. This is by far one of the best statements I’ve come across…”holding on longer came at a very big expense of taking or challenging my spirit for life, my energy/motivation, my time, my goals/dreams, my focus, and my physical/mental/emotional health!

Candice

I cannot thank you enough for all that you did! Thank you for your advice throughout the process. The article, Are you Obsessing Over or Manifesting What you Desire, truly inspired me and was very personally relevant to my situation. Great advice and kept me focused on the right energy without obsessing and led to the desired outcome! I was truly not attached to the outcome, just hopeful of it. What less stress and anxiety I felt, as a result. Highly recommend this Manifesting concept!

Sarina as a speaker is inspiring and engaging. Her perspective of Learning How to Embrace Change and How she became a Half Marathon Runner left a lasting impression on my High School Students. How to ʺbounce backʺ from some tough obstacles was empowering and insightful on the approach to life. Keep doing what you’re doing! Look forward to having you back as a Class Speaker!
