Once we master the lesson of Learning from Failure, we can persevere and come back stronger, more tolerant and disciplined, more successful, more flexible, more willing to take risks and be open-minded, and happier as a result of these experiences!! So how exactly do we get to this place?? First, it’s important to understand the difference between a Perfectionist and an Optimalist, so you can adjust your strategy in life to get more out of it and embrace life’s lessons.

As described by Tal Ben-Shahar PhD, author of The Pursuit of Perfect, How to Stop Chasing Perfection and Start Living a Richer, Happier Life, a Perfectionist is one who tends to focus on the outcome with goals that may be overly ambitious and unobtainable, is afraid of failure, less of a [Continue Reading...]

Release what no longer serves you well. Release your fears, doubts, self-limiting beliefs, and blocks to true happiness. Practice this everyday.

It’s about learning how to get out of your own way. Here’s another confession – this is my current biggest struggle. I have to keep reassuring myself that I’m on the right path and not to be concerned with everyone else’s thoughts or judgments. I need to tame my inner critic that wants to self sabotage and quit on me.

How does someone work on this? Well, my approach is to keep facing those fears, doubts, self-limiting beliefs and blocks to true happiness. Most importantly, I remind myself of what I have already accomplished, how I have already stepped outside my element/comfort zone and continue to do so, how I [Continue Reading...]

Living the Lao Life on the Mekong River, Laos - GAdventures SE Asia trip, 2/2012 - 3/2012

Reflecting back on my SE Asia trip and what I’ve learned. I’ll miss you SE Asia – you have changed my life!! Thank-you for the opportunity, sharing your breathtaking natural wonders, a different perspective of life, culture and people with me!

SE Asia was definitely a very memorable and adventurous trip. Beyond happy that I decided to take this particular GAdventures Bangkok to Hanoi group tour, at this time in my life! I was able to truly interact with the natives and see how they live in the Hilltop Villages, the country, and in the city. Let me tell you that I didn’t miss the gym at all on this trip and I was able to have new experiences in the outdoors including rock-climbing up a waterfall, mountain bike riding, trekking through the [Continue Reading...]

Never leave home without your almonds.
Never leave home without your almonds.

Ready – I have a confession to share with you about myself. I’m a bit neurotic. Alright, more like way neurotic with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) tendencies to help me feel prepared for the unexpected. I literally won’t leave home without water, and almonds or other snacks with me because sometimes I’m out longer than planned.

Also, it’s quite possible that you may find yourself stranded when your car breaks down and you need to wait for AAA to finally show up hours later. This has happened to me before – on several occasions. It’s very frustrating and outside your control. See, the water and almonds make perfect sense now – right? And my friends definitely appreciate it when I have some extra snacks in my pocketbook for sharing. It’s all good!

Le Chateau in Nice, France – Europe Trip 7/2011
Le Chateau in Nice, France – Europe Trip 7/2011

Where we left off … I recognize it’s been quite some time since my last blog post. I’ve traveled to Europe and back during this past summer, and I’ve trained and completed my first Half Marathon in East Hampton NY despite some setbacks. I met someone on the Europe trip who I dated for a few months and this relationship has since ended. More recently, I signed up for another NYU School of Continuing Education class, Finding Your Voice on the Page, which begins early November. It’s exactly the type of class I need to take me where I want to go with my writing. I’m focused on facing my fears one at a time, developing myself, and experiencing life.

I’m [Continue Reading...]

PRAISE

I cannot thank you enough for all that you did! Thank you for your advice throughout the process. The article, Are you Obsessing Over or Manifesting What you Desire, truly inspired me and was very personally relevant to my situation. Great advice and kept me focused on the right energy without obsessing and led to the desired outcome! I was truly not attached to the outcome, just hopeful of it. What less stress and anxiety I felt, as a result. Highly recommend this Manifesting concept!

I just wanted to say I never told you what an amazing woman I thought you were and such a great role model. I know I’m older, but I definitely learned a thing or two from you. It took me some time, but I’m finding my way.

I loved reading this! I read it twice. This is by far one of the best statements I’ve come across…”holding on longer came at a very big expense of taking or challenging my spirit for life, my energy/motivation, my time, my goals/dreams, my focus, and my physical/mental/emotional health!

Sarina’s intelligent, tactful, yet straight forward demeanor blends well with multiple personalities. As an HR Manager and Life Coach, she has incredible insight as well as great presentation skills. Having had the opportunity to attend a seminar she gave on How to Win Over the Hiring Manager, it was impressive to see how engaged the audience was, and the take away of helpful hints was over the top. Having attended seminars with many of the top ‘name brand’ training companies, I can say that the training received from Sarina was outstanding in its practical, no-nonsense and immediately applicable approach. Sarina was excellent at keeping the whole group involved. The experience was a great investment for all who participated.

Sarina as a speaker is inspiring and engaging. Her perspective of Learning How to Embrace Change and How she became a Half Marathon Runner left a lasting impression on my High School Students. How to ʺbounce backʺ from some tough obstacles was empowering and insightful on the approach to life. Keep doing what you’re doing! Look forward to having you back as a Class Speaker!
