I once had this brilliant insightful psychology professor, Dr. Karen Sherman. In one of our classes, Dr. Sherman shared the rationale of how someone actually decides to leave an abusive or toxic relationship. This really resonated with me so much so that I still remember this from more than 10 years ago, last time I’ve taken a class with Dr. Sherman. And it came to me recently; as I considered sharing with you how to know when it’s the appropriate time to distance yourself from toxic friends and family members.

“It’s when the Cost exceeds the Rewards, that’s when a person decides to leave a relationship.” Dr. Karen Sherman Click to Tweet!

So Empowering, right?! Read that statement again and let that resonate for you.

Basically, a person needs to be beyond their limit, when [Continue Reading...]

Journey to Johnston Canyon in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rocky Mts - 8/2013
Journey to Johnston Canyon in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rocky Mts - 8/2013

After all these years, I finally gave into getting myself an iPhone. That was one of my best decisions recently. Seriously, how did I go so long without one?

However, truth be told, I was resistant and hesitant, to make the switch from the Blackberry to the iPhone. With much convincing that it was time to get a new phone (missed texts and calls with delayed messages), I finally realized it was necessary. So I upgraded my phone (my life at the same time) though decided to keep the same network.

It wasn’t until about 2 months later that I discovered the GPS App – several of them! How could I have missed this? Literally, I was on my way out the door, to celebrate my sister, Amanda’s birthday, at the VIEW, [Continue Reading...]

Central America GAdventures Tour 1/2013 – Antigua, Guatemala

Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) creates anxiety. This anxiety then creates inaction and lack of decisions. Allowing the anxiety about missing out or not being able to really participate in something will hold you back from living a full life, as ironic as this may seem. It will also compromise your true self.

Instead shift your focus on making decisions that really resonate with your True Self and what you need to do that’s in alignment of this. Sometimes it’s about saying “no” now, so you could potentially say “yes” to later on when the timing is right for you. Think of it as postponing rather than abandoning some true wants and desires. Think of it as shifting yourself forward with the right intentions while taking the right actions to change [Continue Reading...]

Get this! Sometimes there’s a big tug of war between FEAR of Failure and FEAR of Success, and ultimately you may just give in because you’re so exhausted and unsure which side to take. The REALITY is you don’t need to take either side. Unless, you want to let FEAR run your life, strip you of your sense of worth and passion for life, and then drag you into the ground and mud! That’s absolutely not for the Courageous & Remarkable one like you!

Perhaps you’re one of those people who wouldn’t know what to do if all your dreams came true – if you got everything you ever desired in your life, career, and relationships. Maybe you’re concerned about the sense of responsibility that comes with success. It feels [Continue Reading...]

Cow Harbor Day - Northport Harbor, NY - 9/2011
Cow Harbor Day - Northport Harbor, NY - 9/2011

As the Cow Harbor 10k race is approaching in the coming weeks, it suddenly became obvious to me during my last practice run of the course that running a race implies similar strategy as approaching a relationship.

In the beginning, even though the adrenaline rush is taking over and the excitement of the new is heightened, you can’t go out too fast at the start of a race, or rush a relationship to hurry love. Otherwise, you just won’t stand a chance to make it to the finish line strong or really give the relationship the opportunity to develop!  It’s all about pacing yourself in the race, and in a relationship. Get connected with yourself and the other person first, so you can determine if you’re compatible.

Challenging hills in a race represent [Continue Reading...]

PRAISE

I just wanted to say I never told you what an amazing woman I thought you were and such a great role model. I know I’m older, but I definitely learned a thing or two from you. It took me some time, but I’m finding my way.

Sarina’s intelligent, tactful, yet straight forward demeanor blends well with multiple personalities. As an HR Manager and Life Coach, she has incredible insight as well as great presentation skills. Having had the opportunity to attend a seminar she gave on How to Win Over the Hiring Manager, it was impressive to see how engaged the audience was, and the take away of helpful hints was over the top. Having attended seminars with many of the top ‘name brand’ training companies, I can say that the training received from Sarina was outstanding in its practical, no-nonsense and immediately applicable approach. Sarina was excellent at keeping the whole group involved. The experience was a great investment for all who participated.

I cannot thank you enough for all that you did! Thank you for your advice throughout the process. The article, Are you Obsessing Over or Manifesting What you Desire, truly inspired me and was very personally relevant to my situation. Great advice and kept me focused on the right energy without obsessing and led to the desired outcome! I was truly not attached to the outcome, just hopeful of it. What less stress and anxiety I felt, as a result. Highly recommend this Manifesting concept!

Sarina as a speaker is inspiring and engaging. Her perspective of Learning How to Embrace Change and How she became a Half Marathon Runner left a lasting impression on my High School Students. How to ʺbounce backʺ from some tough obstacles was empowering and insightful on the approach to life. Keep doing what you’re doing! Look forward to having you back as a Class Speaker!

I loved reading this! I read it twice. This is by far one of the best statements I’ve come across…”holding on longer came at a very big expense of taking or challenging my spirit for life, my energy/motivation, my time, my goals/dreams, my focus, and my physical/mental/emotional health!
