Let’s take you back to the time when I returned from this sisterhood yoga retreat in Tulum with 15 other ladies and one of my coaches. By far it was one of the most healing retreats for me because of the experience and practices we engaged in led by my coach, and my connections developed with the ladies.

It was January 2015, and I was in a dark place then. Living through a nightmare. Doing all the things – spiritually and self-care-wise to take care of myself. Literally, living moment to moment.

I let go of some burdens I carried, gained back some pieces of myself I’d lost. Felt a sense of possibility return. My belief stayed grounded in trusting and knowing that I would make it to the other side of this nightmare. I didn’t know exactly when but it was happening. After the retreat, we had a group coaching call. I’ll never forget the moment that my coach shared an observation and called me forward. And with so much compassion, I was able to receive this message and integrate it.

My coach responded with, “Sarina, I’ve noticed that you’ve said the word, “trying” several times. Keep in mind that “trying” isn’t a commitment.” Whoa, that woke me up. That sneaky word was sabotaging me. And I didn’t know what I didn’t know until my coach helped me see that in the moment.

I’ve learned that it’s best to reframe the word “trying” to “I’m committed to X” or “I’m making progress” or “I’m working on X.” Same is true with the word or phrase “I’m struggling” and “I hope.”

Reframing words is just one practice that shifts you and your actions into alignment. Mindset is everything. It’s powerful. And it all starts and ends with mindset. Aligned action is the in-between steps.

Sometimes you think you’re doing everything, but something isn’t clicking. Something is missing in the approach. Sometimes it’s a small tweak in mindset, action, or story you’re telling yourself that changes everything. It gets you heading in the right direction for yourself.

Start to pay more attention to how you think and talk. When you notice yourself saying, “I’ll try” or “I’m trying” or “I hope” I want to encourage you to switch that to a more empowering statement.

Say instead “I’m committed” or “I’m making progress” or I’m working on X” or “It’s happening. or “It’s working out.”

Drop this one word, see yourself move into action, and see results! I’m here for you. Can’t wait to hear how it’s working for you and its positive impact!
