Everywhere I go I simply find myself speaking and teaching about green juice and my mostly vegan lifestyle. At work meetings, at social events/gatherings, while on trips, at my wellness chiro’s office, at the gym, after races, and at high schools!

While on my trip to Central America (Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala), I had green juice or carrot juice 4 times during my 18 day trip! I was thrilled to discover it while at Pure Natural Health & Fitness Center in Granada, Nicaragua. Then at a healthy bistro place in Antigua, Guatemala. When I visited my friend Jessica in Alberta, Canada, I practically had green juice every day. Lo and behold, Jessica and her boyfriend were drinking right along with me!

About a month ago, out of nowhere, my sister, Amanda, comes home from hair styling a bridal party and says, “Maybe you can make me some green juice.” Amanda shared that the bride had been drinking some type of green juice or green juice supplement leading up to her wedding. My response back to Amanda was, “Well, maybe you can help me prep for the green juice.” Now Amanda is dating and telling guys she’s a green juicer drinker!

At a recent New Hire Orientation at work, I gathered my veggie wrap salad, added chickpeas (protein/carbs), and my hemp seeds (high in protein/omega fats/magnesium) and then turned to the group to share how I just created my vegan lunch and what was in it. So before I started facilitating Orientation, I gave a health lesson and it became an interactive interesting discussion! Welcome aboard and here’s your health lesson as well!

Then last Thursday, while I was facilitating an Interviewing Skills roundtable discussion at Half Hollow Hills High School, the last question from one of the curious students was, “What was I drinking?” Well, Green Juice, of course! Then I couldn’t help myself and had to share alittle of my green juice adventure and how I’ve become mostly vegan these days. It turned into another health lesson about what to be mindful of when making decisions about your food.

Here are a few health awareness tips that I provided the students:
- When green juicing, choose mostly organic vegetables and fruits, because otherwise the healthy phytonutrients and enzymes are going right into your blood stream, along with the pesticides!
- Get familiar with the Clean Fifteen and the Dirty Dozen fruits/vegetables references.
- Move towards having a more alkaline based diet/lifestyle rather than acidic one where it’s 80:20 or 60:40 ratio.
- If choosing to still eat meat, poultry, dairy, then go with selecting choices that indicate no antibiotics or hormones.

I don’t even think twice about bringing my green juice with me everywhere I go. Since March, it’s just become my regular routine and my healthy life-changing habit that I’ve adapted. Yes, going strong now with green juice or green smoothies for 8 months. And I’ve been off my coffee morning routine since June, 5 months! I was a coffee addict for 12 years. I will share that I do still indulge in coffee here and there, but it’s no longer my wake-up daily drink. I start my morning with hot lemon water, then green juice.

Let it be known that it wasn’t an overnight decision for me to get started with green juicing. Actually, it was nearly five months before I made the commitment after I had my first green juice. At Marie Forleo’s RHH Live Weekend Workshop, green juice was given out to all the attendees as an afternoon energy booster. Kris Carr was one of the keynote speakers at RHH Live. This was the first time I really learned about Kris’s story of living and thriving with cancer for 10 years and how she became a Wellness Activist and Green Juice Goddess!

But that didn’t have me running out and getting my juicer right after hearing Kris speak. Even though, I had purchased her e-guide right away, because I had no clue on how to even get started. It wasn’t until I heard Kris speak again at the Hay House I Can Do It Conference (ICDI), that’s when I seriously considered it further. Kris shared a recommendation, which was start with your blender for green smoothies and start with 3 days a week or whatever you can commit to. At that moment, I felt empowered and realized I could do this!

Believe it or not, we’re all role models to somebody in our lives and to more people than you think! So rather than tell everyone what they should do, instead take the approach of making suggestions or encouraging others when a particular topic comes up. Even more influential, just show up living your life to your highest potential, while learning how to get out of your own way. Then lo and behold, everyone will want to know your secret and be asking you how you do it. Namaste!

As Gandhi would say, “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”
